Location: Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX
Duration: Full Time
Active Top Secret clearance required
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
–  One or more of the following IAT Level II Certifications (GSEC, Security +, SSCP, CCNA-Security)
–  CND Certification (GCIA, CEH, GCIH).
PRIMARY DUTIES:
–  Conduct network security monitoring and intrusion detection analysis for the NIPRNet and SIPRNet using the AF’s selected IDS/IPS toolset
–  Research NIPR and SIPR defensive cyber operations events to determine the necessity for deeper analysis and conduct an initial assessment of type and extent of intruder activities.
–  Enter event data into mission support systems according to operational procedures and reports through the 33rd operational chain.
–  Record suspicious events, meeting established thresholds, into the operational database for suspicious traffic. Records shall contain sufficient information to stimulate future research of suspicious traffic. The record shall answer the: who, what, where, why and when for this suspicious activity.
–  Provide computer security-related assistance to Air Force field units (example: the Integrated Network Operations and Security Center (INOSC), Base Information Assurance shop) in countering vulnerabilities, minimizing risk, and improving the security posture of AF computer networks and systems within the scope of operational requirements and mission execution.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
–  Intermediate knowledge with one or more of the IDS/IPS systems currently in use by the Department of Defense (DoD), Services, and Agencies (i.e., AF, Navy, Army, DC3, DISA) or Federal Government and intermediate experience in the following areas:

–  One or more of the following IAT Level II Certifications (GSEC, Security +, SSCP, CCNA-Security)
–  CND Certification (GCIA, CEH, GCIH).

The services to be provided include, but are not limited to the following:

Any tasks related to the successful migration of SCCM from version 2007 to version 2012.

  • Participate in all facets of automation system design, testing and implementation.
  • Develop and review project documentation, including technical requirements, training materials, deliverable, project plans and schedules, testing scenarios.
  • Coordinate with IT project technical leads, DADS program and other subject-matter experts, contractor representatives, and other State agency representatives as required to ensure necessary tasks, deliverable and timelines are completed.
  • Participate in test planning to help ensure successful project implementation, including development of test scenarios and actual testing when needed.
  • Perform meeting and/or presentation preparation tasks as needed (e.g., prepare or oversee preparation of and provide agendas and pre-meeting materials as well as follow-up notes, post meeting materials, assignment follow-up and related activities).
  • Skilled in the administration of Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager version 2012
  • Skilled in the use of the complete MS Office product line.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

8 Experience preparing System Requirements documents and requirement traceability matrixes
5 Full-time experience performing requirements analysis, documentation and testing in a production environment, maintaining customer critical applications in a high-visibility environment.
5 Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs to develop requirements, requirements traceability matrix, test scenarios, test plans, etc.
5 Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills are necessary.
5 Extensive work experience and understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, thorough knowledge of the software specification process and software development processes, and software testing processes.
1 Microsoft SCCM version 2012.
Strong Must have excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
Strong Microsoft suite of products, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio

THE JOB

Our client is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for deploying, managing, and ensuring stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems.

In this role of a Network Engineer, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor/ maintain performance & capacity for our 7 global data centers and 9 corporate offices to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime
  • Work with vendors and cross-functional teams for on-going design efforts and systems support
  • Troubleshoot and resolve service level and/or critical and system related issues
  • Document projects including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with the highest level of quality, on time and within budget
  • Will participate in an on-call/standby rotation and is expected to respond after hours for service restoration, troubleshooting and/or repair of all necessary equipment
  • Test and validate all new hardware, software and connections for proper configuration and performance
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on all networking equipment such as software and equipment upgrades and assist with such maintenance

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal Network Engineer must demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation and be able to performs moves, adds and changes of equipment and systems specifically following the company change management policies. The Network Engineer would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years of data network operations and support experience
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus switches (5548/5596, 3016 & 3064) and ASAs (5515 through 5585)
  • Hands on experience with BigIPs (5050s through Viprion)
  • Familiar with Broadcom MLXE routers and Sonicwall (NSA 4500 to 6600)
  • Experience in lab-testing, certification of configurations, and validation testing
  • Experience managing complex technical projects
  • Telecom experience (6M to 10G Internet circuits)
  • Strong Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Perl or other code base preferred
  • International deployments and working with international team members
  • Cisco Access Points and controllers
  • Cisco WAS or Riverbed WAN accelerators a plus
  • Industry recognized network certifications is preferred but not required (CCNP, CCIE, CISSP and/or CISA/CISM)
